Talent Development Manager

Boot Barn, Inc.

This is a Full-time position in Irvine, CA posted June 8, 2021.


Talent Development Manager is primarily responsible for the design, development, delivery, evaluation and coordination of development programs for all levels of the organization with focus on field roles.

This role will work closely in partnership with the Human Resources and Store Operations team to develop and foster a culture of growth, development and inclusivity while meeting key business goals.


Develop, organize, and update training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials Evaluate the effectiveness of Boot Barn training programs and provide recommendations to the senior leadership team for creation and improvements Conducts training sessions for Boot Barn team members, management, and our senior leadership team Be an influential thought partner in the development of the long-term vision, including identifying and assessing current and future training needs Creating training material for new hires Research and develop new curriculum/programs for performance improvement including evaluation matrix with KPI’s to monitor progress Assist Human Resources in the development and implementation of retention strategies, including career development and talent management.

Lead development and implementation of a succession planning program.

Manage end-to-end design and integration of talent programs (i.e., leadership development programs) that enables success, strengthens performance and promotes internal growth Manage roadmap for development and talent programming Construct innovative ways to package experiences and programming that enhances employee happiness (engagement) as well as effectiveness in role execution and advancement Ensure that all development and advancement programming is equitable, recognizing diversity gaps and actively building support for engagement Help to maintain the LMS system, SPURS and use the platform to engage with learning and training programs Partner with Human Resources team to integrate diversity and inclusion strategies into development programming and activities
Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management Demonstrates high level of quality work, attendance and appearance Adheres to all Company Policies & Procedures and Safety Regulations Adheres to local, state and federal laws Performs any other duties that may be assigned by management Understands and complies with all company rules and regulations

3-5 years of experience in a Talent Development Management role, or similar.

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills across different audiences.

Listening, emotional intelligence (EQ), self-awareness, growth mindset, responsiveness to feedback, committed to learning and self-development.

Strong background in development (content design and facilitation) using ADDIE and other adult learning theories.

Able to assess needs and create engaging content.

Strong facilitation and coaching skills.

Design, manage, resource, track and evaluate complex programs.

Skilled in problem solving, assessment, project management, measurement and analysis.

Focus on getting things done.

Bias for action.

Able to innovate, pivot quickly, start small and iterate
– know when to “just go” versus when to “go slow to go fast.” Consistently ensures that cross-functional partners and the voice of our employees are represented in the design and delivery.
