STEAM Coordinator

Mirman School seeks an experienced full-time STEAM Coordinator who is compelled by the school’s mission to direct the school’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) and innovation program.

In collaboration with Division Heads and the Director of Technology, the STEAM Coordinator will develop, deliver, grow, and promote interdisciplinary STEAM activities and high-tech, inquiry-based learning with a goal of ensuring that students are excited and engaged in a program that delivers measurable results.

Essential Job Functions:

● Provides direction and leadership in the development of a comprehensive STEAM curriculum.

● Promotes effective instructional practices and communication that support high levels of instruction through the use of research-based, data driven best practices, effective classroom consultation, and program evaluation.

● Develops, organizes, promotes and oversees the successful delivery of high impact interdisciplinary STEAM activities through authentic problem-based curriculum.

● Guides and coaches faculty through the design and delivery of high quality curricula to ensure that the students’ learning experiences are engaging and rigorous.

● Teaches a reduced teaching load in order to support integration and STEAM within content areas.

● Teaches STEAM core classes and middle school electives to provide direct opportunities for students in Upper School to learn and grow in STEAM-related subjects.

● Coordinates with STEAM content areas to enhance teachers’ pedagogical practices and planning through meaningful professional development.

● Conducts regularly scheduled classroom observation, strategic classroom coaching and targeted feedback sessions to develop model STEAM classrooms.

● Provides lesson-planning and unit-planning support to teachers and supporting teachers’ development and use of high-quality, standards-based instructional materials.

● Provides strategic classroom coaching and follow-up to develop model math and science classrooms and build school-based math and science content.

● Collaborates with teachers in integrating technology to promote high-tech learning.

● Facilitates a successful robotics and engineering program in collaboration with the lower school and upper school technology and innovation teachers.

● Assists in the planning and development of school wide instructional in-service programs for faculty and parent volunteers to assist in raising the level of instructional performance and student achievement in the STEAM programs.

● Plans, provides and evaluates instructional leadership and professional learning opportunities for colleagues within the school to build a collective vision and common framework for integrated STEAM education.

● Supports data-driven instruction to ensure student mastery of grade-level and secondary school standards.

● Assists in the development of a proposed annual budget relating to curriculum development and the instructional materials needs.

● Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator(s).

● Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.

● Teaching experience in science, technology, engineering and/or math.

● Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing complex programs in a cross-functional environment.

● Experience in development, facilitation and training.

● Experience in the educational section preferred.

● Passion for furthering education.

● Leadership and/or coaching faculty experience preferred.

● Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
