Project Engineer

Position Summary:  The Project Engineer will be responsible for the successfully management and completion of key projects.  Responsibilities extend to the creation of system layouts, structural assembly and detail part conceptualization. Additionally, leading a design engineering team, assuring manufacturability and optimum cost, working in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering, and creating and meeting strict project schedules. Key Responsibilities and Priorities:Design and development of next generation Large Freighter Aircraft Cargo Handling Systems.Project engineering leadership from conception to successful completion.Lead design engineering team to create new product designs for manufacturability.Development of cost effective design concepts.Must have knowledge and understanding of modern manufacturing techniques and develop products for efficient manufacture.Development of Project BOMs and maintain a working relationship with Manufacturing EngineeringDevelopment of detailed project schedules meeting production and delivery needs.Delegation of tasks to engineering team to efficiently meet schedules.Conduct trade studies to optimize system value regarding production and in-service performance.Work with purchasing department to assure adherence to drawing requirements from suppliers.Work with Quality Department to assure adherence to drawing requirements.Support of sustaining engineering work to improve design for manufacture.Sales & Marketing Support:Support marketing with new business proposals and cost estimates.Quotations and Contract reviewNew Business DevelopmentProject ManagementKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Working knowledge of aircraft component structural analysis.Good design problem solving skills.Ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced working environment.Must have excellent communication skills.Willingness to learn company procedures and implement improvements.Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.Working knowledge of aircraft component structural analysis.Familiarity with the following design/production topics:Design and Manufacture of Composite StructuresKnowledge of Plating, Anodize, Heat Treat, and Non-Destructive Testing.Materials selection, Steel and Aluminum in various forms.Proficient with computers including Microsoft Word and ExcelComprehensive understanding of mechanical drawingsFamiliarity with wiring and harness drawingsKnowledge of FAA requirements (14CFR Part 25)Years of Experience Required: 5-10 years of experience in similar position in the Aerospace industry Minimum Education Requirements:  Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or similar qualifying experience)Certification Requirements: None required Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:  Office / Minimal travel required Disclaimer:  Job responsibilities and requirements can change at any time.
