Vocational Specialist (Behavioral Health)

Merakey is currently seeking a Vocational Specialist to join our Adult Behavioral Health Division in our Lompoc, CA location.


1.Coordinate Vocational services for all individuals served by the F/ACT team.
2.Assist individuals in the securing gainful employment
3.Provide education and assistance to individuals with job applications, preparing for job interviews
4.Perform vocational assessment
5.Assist individuals to obtain education necessary for employment
6.Act as a liaison with stakeholders
7.Develop a relationship with employers
8.Develop network of employers willing to work with those with SPMI
9.Educate and support individual’s families and advocate for individual’s rights and preferences.
10.Attend vocational related meetings in the community
Structuring Time and Employment
1.Provide individual vocational-supportive counseling to enable individuals to identify vocational strengths and areas to improve upon as well as establish vocational or career goals and plans to reach them.
2.Plan, structure and prompt social and leisure time activities on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
3.Organize and lead individual and group social activities to increase social experience and provide opportunities to practice social skills and receive feedback and support.
4.Provide mentoring, problem solving and support on and off job site.
5.Perform work-related support services, such as wake-up calls, transportation and securing of appropriate clothing.

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in human service field. 1 to 3 years’ experience working with individuals in an employment setting. Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system. Valid CA Driver’s License and other appropriate state and federal clearances. Credentialed as a QMHW.
