(sm)Due to our ongoing business relationship with the County of San Diego, Optum Behavioral Solutions has an immediate need for a Care Advocate.

As thesuccessful candidateyouwill focus on clinical review for inpatient, outpatient, and crisis residential authorizations for psychiatric patients.

This is primarily an administrative position with no patient contact.This position is office based in our San Diego, CA office and requires working a Monday-Friday, 9am 6pm schedulePrimary Responsibilities:Making patient assessments and determining appropriate levels of careObtaining information from providers on psychiatric requests for treatmentDetermining if additional clinical treatment meet medical necessityManaging inpatient, outpatient, and crisis residential mental health cases throughout the entire treatment planAdministering benefits and reviewing treatment plansCoordinating benefits and transitions between various levels of careIdentifying ways to add value to treatment plans and consulting with facility staff or outpatient care providers on those ideasSupport other sub teams within Utilization Management as needed with authorizations for treatment at Residential Substance Use programs and Long Term Care facilitiesSupport the San Diego Access and Crisis Line as neededYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Licensed Master’s degree clinicianin Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Marriageand Family Counseling, or a Licensed Ph.D.

/ PsyD; or an RNLicenses must be independent, active and unrestricted in the State of California2 years of experience in mental health / behavior health environmentIntermediate level ofcomputer proficiency(includingMS Word, Excel, Outlook)Reside in the state of CA and be willing to work onsite in the San Diego office dailyMust be able to obtain and maintain access to the County of San Diego’s electronic health records, Anasazi and WITSAbility to work schedule posted: Monday-Friday, 9am 6pmYou will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company locationIf you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.E., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener.

When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas.

In addition, employee must comply with any state and local masking orders.Preferred Qualifications:Cerner experienceExperience in a managed care settingDual diagnosis experience in mental health and substance use treatmentMedi-Cal system experienceExperience working in an environment that requires coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple groups and resources for patientsExperience in telephonic rolesStrong data entry skillsDo you have compassion and a passion to help others?
