Clinical Nurse Supervisor

This is a Contract position in San Gabriel, CA posted January 13, 2022.

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing direction and clinical supervision of patient care for specified unit, patient population and assigned staff.  Is a professional caregiver with requisite clinical and supervisory experience, which promotes an atmosphere that is responsive to the needs of patients, nursing and medical staff.  Is knowledgeable about and promotes the philosophy, goals and objectives of the department.


  • Demonstrates understanding of the unit patient population including illness, disabilities, disease, nutrition, treatment, and intervention. Coordinates care on the unit.
  • Adjusts staffing to meet the volume and acuity of patient population.
  • Oversees bed control process and reviews patient admission per interqual criteria.
  • Attends leadership meeting and transmits information to employees through monthly meetings, memos, and communication log.
  • Reviews shift assignment documentation of core measures, meal and break time, and extra shift assignments.
  • Functions as role model by demonstrating competency in clinical judgment and select technical and psychomotor skill
  • Facilitates timely and appropriate admission, discharge and transfer
  • Manages patient assignment based on competency of staff and acuity of patient. Assist with direct patient care, technical and psychomotor skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluation of patient care and assist staff in performing the same.
  • Review quality controls: crash cart checklist, refrigerator temperature logs.
  • Completes administrative report according to policy and procedures
  • Coaching/mentoring/progressive counseling with individuals regarding all standards and documentation performance
  • Makes patient round daily. Patient rounding includes the “8” behaviors (Bedside report, hourly rounding, patient conference, environmental checks, pain management, discharge telephone calls, AIDET, and SBAR)
  • Provide timely solutions to issue and concerns involving physicians and patient/family.
  • Serves as primary communication resource for physician interaction for the unit. Facilitates the plan of care for patients through effective communication with the health care team. Attends multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Participates in recruitment and retention
  • Assist manager with annual and ongoing performance appraisals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Graduate of a School of Nursing; BSN or Bachelor Degree in related field and/or supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in clinical area.
  • Current California RN License
  • Current BLS card
  • Current ACLS card
