This is a Full-time position in Los Angeles, CA posted October 31, 2019.

Associate The Public Relations, Associate, at Financial Profiles is a key position, as it serves an important function across many of the firm’s clients as well as assisting Financial Profiles with its media relations and marketing.

The position works with internal account staff and leadership, as well as clients, to execute media plans.

Some of those plans include strategy, story angles and most appropriate media outlets and reporters for each pitch.

The role requires pitching media to garner positive traditional and digital media coverage that conveys each client’s key messages, draft media materials, being able to stay ahead of changes and opportunities in the media landscape, monitor media, analyze and report on coverage.

The position also works to identify and pursue speaking opportunities and awards for clients and the firm.

To be successful in this role you need to be a self-starter, have a passion for news, tenacious and have stellar oral and written communication skills.

Candidate Must Possess the Following 1-3 years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications or a related field.

Public Relations agency experience preferred A bachelor’s degree with an outstanding academic record; Fluency in English; Outstanding writing skills; Strong attention to detail, including excellent proofreading skills; Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills; Strong work ethic and the ability to work diligently under time constraints; Open and proactive communicator with great teamwork skills; Solid research abilities; and Well-versed in MS Office, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Communicate with reporters to secure positive media coverage Write clear and compelling pitch and press materials Oversee the development of customized media lists for clients to best reach the audiences important to them with the media they read and trust.

Pitch a variety of broadcast, print and online media, as well as bloggers, influencers, and newsletter editors.

Review published articles to identify errors and work on corrections.

Book interviews and media tours, as well as develop media day or multi-day itineraries (complete with reporter profiles/past coverage, contact info for account team and client, hotel and travel details, interview location details, transportation details, etc.).

Proactively maintain up-to-date media matrix for each media client that includes target outlets, reporter contact information, last interaction date/topic, ongoing pitch details, next steps, and any resulting coverage.

Cultivate and establish media and blogger relationships critical to securing positive media coverage.

Meet with reporters face-to-face.

Opportunistically seize media coverage (i.e.

newsjacking) possibilities by leveraging items in the news or trends.

Draft client media update correspondence and email updates.

Monitor competitive and client news coverage, measure and report in a timely matter on results with insightful analysis and recommendations.

Develop media placement wrap reports and analysis that provide an overview of media coverage results/metrics (tone, message inclusion, reach, quotes, etc.) and any next steps with reporters, pending coverage, etc.

Uncover real time coverage of client’s and inform internal FP team and/or client directly, as appropriate.

Research awards and speaking engagements for clients and present recommendations to SVP.

Develop client content calendars.

Post content on the three major online sites.
