We are seeking great candidates to lead communications for our Therapeutic Area, IBD/Gastroenterology with a focus on the JAK inhibitor, filgotinib in ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Specific Responsibilities: Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Therapeutic Area Communications, Inflammation, this role will lead communications about Gilead’s product portfolio in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with a focus on the JAK inhibitor, filgotinib in ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Responsibilities include: Lead pre-launch communications for the investigational JAK inhibitor filgotinib in ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease Continue to build a reputation for Gilead in inflammation and gastroenterology, in close collaboration with cross-functional partners and Public Affairs colleagues Lead data communications for filgotinib and pipeline compounds at key congresses Partner with the Community Engagement team on key patient advocate relationships in IBD, and patient-focused initiatives Generate disease area educational content for Gilead’s newsroom, social media and employee communications platforms, in partnership with the broader Public Affairs team Champion alignment on filgotinib and IBD pipeline communications through collaboration with internal functions including Clinical, Medical Affairs, Commercial and Government Affairs Maintaining relationships with key U.S. based reporters to encourage coverage of /respond to inquiries about filgotinib and Gilead’s pipeline in IBD Manage PR agency partners Conduct all activities with integrity and in line with Gilead’s code of ethics and business conduct policies Manage budgets to target Knowledge, Experience and Skills: 10+ years of healthcare public relations experience, or related relevant experience Prior communications experience in gastroenterology, immunology or inflammation, is preferred Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills A passion for scientific communication and ability to understand complex scientific data Experience and interest in social influencer engagement and patient program development Experience with media relations and established relationships with key U.S. reporters Ability to interact with senior stakeholders and academic experts appropriately, with confidence and ease Must have experience with public relations tactics and resources and the relationship of those tactics to other department roles and functions Experience managing multiple projects (timelines, budgets, priorities) simultaneously with a focus on delivering results Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly-traded bio-pharmaceutical company Ability to deliver formal presentations to external and internal audiences of a variety of sizes As an equal opportunity employer, Gilead Sciences, Inc. is committed to a diverse workforce.
