Senior Interaction Designer

The Sr.

Interaction Designer is responsible for creating IA (Information Architect) artifacts and designing and developing creative and innovative solutions and interfaces that are usable, intuitive and professional for web, mobile, and desktop applications

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with strategic product managers, engineering leads, business analysts, project managers and marketers

• Partner with stakeholders and product owners to provide cross
– functional teams UX (User Experience) design strategy and direction in development of enterprise applications

• Create interaction models, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and design mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors to stakeholders and the development team

• Design the UI Framework using the Atomic Design approach to build multiple applications and improve usability, consistency, scalability, reusability and development time across platforms.

• Lead the refinement of the UI architecture, user interface, product features, and end-to-end experience for new features/functionality

• Create iterative web page visual designs and mockups, with extensive user testing and research

• Hold design reviews and provide critique and feedback

• Lead the research to guide product design decisions (user interviews, usability testing, competitive analysis etc.) and collaborate/communicate results to the teams

• Remain on top of industry trends, and evaluate innovative design approaches to develop internal innovation and engaging solutions

• Lead the research and evaluation of third-party tools to enhance processes and business results

• Research visual design trends and transfer knowledge to the team

Position Description

• Work in an Agile (SCRUM) environment and participate in Sprint Planning, User Story Elaboration, Backlog Grooming, Story Estimation, Daily Scrum, UX Reviews, Work-in Progress Reviews, Sprint Reviews and Sprint Retrospectives.

• Define and validate key stakeholder goals, identify business requirements, and support the development of user stories, backlog grooming and user story estimation.

• Lead adoption of Agile culture and methodology by extended development teams and integrated UX analysis and usability testing into sprints.

• Manage multiple competing project priorities for multiple business divisions including support of Marketing Department initiatives

• Gain and foster understanding of target audiences’ needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into design concepts

• Work closely with clients to translate business requirements into meaningful interactive experiences

• Lead in immersive user research, concept testing, and usability testing and quality assurance to create solutions that best meet business objectives

• Set up usability testing labs, conduct usability tests, and moderate focus groups to discover user needs and motivations

• Collaboratively develop proof of concept for demonstration to clients

• Develop user personas and scenarios to clarify results of user research and focus the team’s design efforts on the needs of key users

• Lead the development and documentation of coding standards and style guidelines and centralize in the Enterprise Development Wiki

• Lead and participate in training and onboarding new team members.

• Actively participate in all defined SDLC processes and provide recommendations for continued efficiency

• Evangelize User Centered Design company-wide

• Promote advancement of company websites SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and lead strategic, content-focus tactics.

• Performs other business tasks or functions as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Interaction Design

• HTML5, CSS3, JS/AJAX, Preprocessors such as Sass or Less

• Frameworks

• Advanced proficiency in using prototyping tools such as Axure RP Pro, Bootstrap (Axure preferred)

• MS Visio, Word, Excel, Powerpoint

• Testing Tools

• Raw Javascript and JS Frameworks a plus

• 8+ years of experience as an information architect, interaction designer, or experience designer (or similar role)

• Experience working within Agile Methodology

• Responsive web, enterprise grade and mobile applications

• Solid understanding of SEO principles and techniques

• Proven ability to develop Information Architecture for complex transactional interfaces

• Experience conducting user research and translating user research into design directions

• Demonstrates experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions

• Excellent oral, written, diagrammatic communication and presentation skills

Educational Requirements:

• BS Degree or higher in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Interaction design, Psychology or related fields

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and occasional walking

• Must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with or without reasonable accommodation

• Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

• Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment

• Working environment is stable and noise level is moderate

• Must be able to work extended hours including evenings and weekends as required

• On-call availability as needed
