We are seeking a Security Support (Locksmith) professional to join our team in Canoga Park, California.

 

In this role you will perform work in the installation, repair and maintenance of the company locking systems through a variety of mechanical and electronic devices, including locks, keys and related parts and hardware. This position disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks, door locks, and repairs or replaces springs and other parts. They may cut a variety of new or duplicate keys; change key lock combinations for different key variations or correlate master key systems; and maintain records of locks, keys and combinations of vaults, cabinets, vehicles and other equipment.

 

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

 

50% – Installs repairs and maintains all types of locking systems such as doors, door hardware, windows, lockers, safety bolts, etc. to ensure the safety and security of the facility.  Removes broken keys and repairs malfunctioning locks.  Cuts keys by codes or duplication.  Diagnoses operational problems of locks.  Follows specifications for the installation of complex systems. 

 

25% – Maintains a system for tracking master keys, issued keys, and combinations.  Orders parts and supplies and maintains inventory records. 

 

20% – Performs periodic maintenance and repair on door closure systems, including key card systems and electromagnetic systems. 

 

5% – Performs related work as assigned.

 

They will maintain databases related to the electronic key boxes throughout the facility,  badge and automated access control systems, and intrusion detection and access control of secure storage buildings and other restricted areas.  They may install and service badge readers and security cameras.

 

High School diploma supplemented by course work in locksmith craft and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in working with locks and lock paraphernalia or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 

 

The successful candidate should be able to use features of applicable access control systems; must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; and exercise judgment, tact and common sense in resolving difficulties and problems.  The successful candidate is also expected to have basic knowledge of computer systems and applicable software such as Microsoft Office. 

 

The employee appointed to this position must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Top Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required) and complete courses leading to a certified Locksmith registration that may be required by the State of California.

 

GSA Certification a plus, must obtain a GSA certification within one year of employment and favorable maintain the certification as required. 

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
